An Easy Guide to Applying for Health Insurance

An Easy Guide to Applying for Health Insurance

Ok, you've looked at all the health insurance offers. While doing that you compared the prices for each plan based on comparable benefits. After careful consideration you are ready to apply for the health insurance coverage of your choice.

Now what do you do?

You have two main choices. You can apply online through your computer, if you are comfortable with that, or you can apply off line. The question of whether you're applying via a group plan also comes into play.

Before applying, be sure to have all the information about your most recent insurance policy on hand. That includes the names and addresses of your (and your family's) doctors and the dates of the most recent visits. You will probably need this information for the application process.

Health Insurance through Your Employer

If you're enrolling in a health insurance plan that is being provided by your employer, you typically will have to wait for the company's open enrollment period before you can begin the application process.

If you are new on the job you probably will avoid the waiting period. The application process when enrolling in a group plan is very simple. That's because most plans will simply allow everyone to be enrolled, regardless of pre-existing conditions and your current state of health.

In the usual procedure you will be given an enrollment form to complete. This form requires that you enter all personal information including address, social security number, designation of the primary insured and all dependents (including the names, ages, dates of birth and social security numbers for all dependents), employment information including the date you were hired, and the type of health insurance coverage that you are choosing.

Most plans require that you provide information about prior health insurance coverage, including the insurance company name and policy number. The good news is that you won't need a medical examination.

When you have completed the form your application goes to your company's benefits coordinator who processes your form. You've done your part and the coordinator does the rest.

Applying for Non-Group Health Insurance

If you are applying for health insurance, but you don't belong to a group that offers coverage, the steps are much the same as above. The main difference being that there might not be anyone else to handle the processing of the paperwork.

Many health insurance companies will send an insurance agent to discuss your application and typically work with you to gather all required documentation. The agent will coordinate in-home medical examinations, and collect any pre-payment that is due upon application.

If you've done your home work in choosing the policy and understand what it does and does not cover, the application process is routine and easy to understand.

Once you have a little understanding of how the health insurance application process works, it's so simple that many people prefer to save time and hassle by applying online. Online or off line, the choice is yours.

That's as simple as visiting the health insurance company's web site where you'll find an online application form and a secure environment.

You'll be asked to provide the same type of personal and employment information as above. Just enter all of it onto the online application form. When you're finished, click on the submit button and the system takes over.

Applying for health insurance online is a snap, once you've selected the appropriate coverage.

If you are a person who is simply are not comfortable providing that amount of personal information over the Internet, just apply for health insurance offline.

For most people, the process of applying for health coverage online is so easy and quick they would not consider applying any other way. How about you?

Aviation Insurance - The Basics

You should begin shopping around for aviation insurance at least six months before you are going to need it. Whether you are purchasing a new aircraft or fixing up a new one, you are going to need airline insurance. Start by checking around with friends who own planes to see which agency's they recommend, and checking out insurance plans different agencies have to offer.

After you narrow down you're choices you will want to call the agency's and watch out for a few things. Be careful of an agency that you have to call more than once, or that puts you on hold for a long time, because this could be a sign of what business with them will be like in the future. You also want to listen carefully to see how much knowledge this company has about flying and insurance. If the person you are talking to seems to be guessing at some of the answers they are giving you, go with your gut and check it out for yourself. If you find some of there answers were false, it's a good idea to look to another company. Now that you have finished investigating different agencies, you can make your decision on a company and an agent. You should make your decision at least 90 days before you need to purchase insurance. You should ask your agent to get quotes for you on different plans and then 30 days before you need the aircraft insurance, you should have everything basically planned out.

In the next 30 days you can fix any little details you need and ask different questions to your agent to make sure everything is planned out to fit your needs. As soon as you are satisfied you can ask you agent to start purchasing your insurance.
